Science – polarization by reflection

The light is polarized when reflected from transparent surfaces (for example, glass or water). The total polarity of the reflected light takes place for a specific incidence angle called the Brewster angle[alfa](in the drawing). It is such an incidence angle at which the refracted radius creates an angle of 90 ° with the reflected radius. It can be shown that the tangent of the Brewster angle is equal to the refractive index of the reflective material.

Explanation of polarization by reflection

For glass, this angle is about 55 °. With complete polarity in reflected light, vibrations of the electric field take place in a plane perpendicular to the drawing.

This method of polarization is the most popular in nature. The incident ray is usually sunlight, the reflected ray is an unwanted reflex. After polarization, the reflected light loses all the information about the shape and color of the object.
